The Auburn University football team is enjoying some time off for spring break after several days of spring training.
The team practiced March 1, 3, 5, 8, and 10.
Before heading out for spring break, several players told auburntigers.com that spring training has a different feel this year.
“Honestly, it feels different,” center Austin Golson told the team’s official site. “It feels like back when I was in high school, the year that we won the state championship with the energy. People flying around and having confidence in what we’re doing.”
Golson said the practices have been welcomed like one would expect from a team striving to get better.
“I’ve really enjoyed practice,” he said. “I don’t think anybody is dreading practice. Last year, I remember that we had some guys: ‘Man, I can’t wait until spring break.’ Today, we were like: ‘Man, I can’t wait to get out there and practice and then we can worry about spring break.’ I think that means a lot. I really like where we are.”
Defensive end Carl Lawson agreed.
“A lot more energy and a lot more leadership,” Lawson said of the practices.
The players and coaches will return March 22, with more practices scheduled for March 24, 26, 29, 31 and April 1, 5 and 7.
Auburn’s A-Day game is set for April 9 at 3 p.m. in Jordan-Hare Stadium followed by one last spring practice on April 11.
