Justin Dyar has been selling lake homes for more than a decade, but he’s rather new to the world of television.

On Sunday night, Dyar will be featured on HGTV’s “Lakefront Bargain Hunt,” a reality television show in which vacation homebuyers look for waterfront properties for a bargain price.

The episode is set to air at 7:30 p.m. The following week, the show will feature another Alabama Realtor, Nicole Anderson Walters.

Dyar is an agent with Lake Homes Realty and is a member of the Alabama Center for Real Estate’s Leadership Council.

According to a report in the Birmingham Business Journal, Dyar’s episode will feature the Realtor as he attempts to help a couple find a vacation home on Smith Lake for less than $350,000.

Dyar joined Lake Homes Realty after spending several years successfully selling lake home properties in north Alabama.

We caught up with Dyar to discuss his television role and the state of the lakefront sector in north Alabama.

ACRE: How did you become involved in the filming of “Lakefront Bargain Hunt?”  

Dyar: I was contacted by Magilla Entertainment, who is the production company for HGTV. They film shows such as “Lakefront Bargain Hunt,” “Beachfront Bargain Hunt” and “Island Hunters.” They knew of my niche market and asked if I would be willing to film with them and also asked if I had clients who would be as well. They have strict criteria as to purchase price, date of purchase and age of purchaser. Luckily, I had several clients who were willing to participate, and they chose the perfect couple after a long interview process.

ACRE: What is the premise of the show?  

Dyar: The show is targeted to vacation homebuyers looking for a property with waterfront for under $350,000.

ACRE: What was it like to film a reality TV show?  

Dyar: It is very streamlined and organized. Long days, but very efficient.

ACRE: Tell us a little bit about the lake home market around Smith Lake.  

Dyar: The average lake home sale on Smith Lake is $375,000, which fits well into the criteria of the show “Lakefront Bargain Hunt.”

ACRE: Do you foresee any more TV shows in your future?  

Dyar: Yes. I just completed filming for another episode, which should air in 2017.
