Renowned flamenco dancing team Ryan and Alexandra Zermeño, who studied with dance experts in Spain, will introduce flamenco to Birmingham this weekend. The Zermeños will give dance lessons at The Dance Foundation on Saturday, focusing on footwork and marcaje, or marking steps.
On Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., learn flamenco rhythms with live music. On Saturday, take basic flamenco dance from 10 to 11 a.m.; technique from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and flamenco dance with guitar and song from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
The Dance Foundation is at 1715 27th Court South, Birmingham.

See ‘Gone With the Wind’ at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham Aug. 14
Revisit the days of antebellum homes and hoop skirts during the showing of one of the all-time classics, “Gone with the Wind,” at the historic Alabama Theatre. On Sunday, moviegoers will enjoy the sight of many ladies and gents bedecked in Southern finery for the occasion.

For big-time fun, giddyap on over to the Cleburne County Fair in Heflin Aug. 12-13
Get your boots shined up for the two-night Cleburne County Fair and rodeo this weekend. The fair kicks off with a rodeo on Friday at 7 p.m. Enjoy Saturday’s full day of fun starting at 10 a.m. Nothing beats a greased pig contest and a canning contest. While visiting the vendor booths and perusing the wares, you’ll enjoy the live sounds of rising country star Riley Green and his band. Delicious food and lots of kid-friendly fun awaits: carnival rides, horse and pony rides and a petting zoo.
Entry is $5 per car, but each attraction has a separate price.
