There is no shortage of great barbecue in Alabama and while all great ‘que can be a stand-alone meal, sometimes the sides help elevate it to another level.

At Hilltop Grill in Union Springs, the BBQ is great but with a side of that Camp Stew, it’s another level. That’s why the Alabama Tourism Department paired them together on its list of 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama.

Owner Rebekah Johnson said a drive-thru window helped the restaurant survive the pandemic and that loyal customers, such as the area’s deer hunters, are keeping things cooking.
