Hispanic Network Magazine (HNM) has named Alabama Power one of America’s top employers for the company’s diversity efforts. The winners are announced in the spring issue on newsstands May 15.

The magazine staff evaluated hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies for the 2013 Best of the Best honors.

“At HNM, our goal is to create an environment of teamwork in which Latin Americans and other minorities have access to all applicable business and career opportunities,” said Mona Lisa Faris, president and publisher. “The annual review is an evaluation of the nation’s employers, initiatives, government agencies and educational institutions. These nonbiased studies are valuable resources for jobseekers, business owners, students, consumers, senior management, business associations, employment agencies and consumer groups.”

Faris said the goal of the evaluations is to not only bring the latest information and guidance to readers, but to encourage active outreach and diversity policies among corporations and government agencies. She said the winning companies were chosen based on market and independent research, diversity conference participation and interviews by DiversityComm agents and affiliates.

“Innovation is what drives organizations to succeed, and diversity breeds innovation,” said Faris. “The organizations we choose as our ‘Best of the Best’ know that diversity and innovation are two key factors that will give any organization a real competitive edge.”

DiversityComm also publishes the Black EOE Journal, Professional Woman’s Magazine and U.S. Veterans Magazine.
