An active April for conservation, education events in Alabama

ROR end of year

Hundreds of volunteers, students and educators will mobilize this month in a series of events focused on protecting the state’s natural resources and teaching future generations about resource and energy conservation.

Other "trashed" items included a gun, small bottle of liquor and a baby stroller.

Volunteers participate in a recent Renew Our Rivers cleanup in Helena along Buck Creek and the Cahaba River.

Alabama Power is partnering with organizations to build awareness of their efforts to improve communities and preserve natural resources around the state.

This month-long series of events include:

  • Seven river cleanups coordinated through the Renew Our Rivers campaign, which are expected to draw hundreds of volunteers.
  • Raising awareness of community partners making an impact on conservation.
  • Teaching high school and college students about energy efficiency and conservation efforts.
  • Providing information and opportunities to college students interested in careers in conservation and stewardship.

Supporting the work of Alabamians who are passionate about improving quality of life across the state is a primary focus for Alabama Power and the Alabama Power Foundation.
“We are proud to support efforts to make Alabama a better state through our partnerships on these projects, as well as our own efforts in conservation, energy efficiency and land resource management,” said Matt Bowden, Alabama Power’s vice president for Environmental Affairs.
