The Alabama Crimson Tide’s football dominance continues in between the post-season games.

The Southeastern Conference announced today the Tide’s head coach and players received five of its seven awards. Alabama honorees are:

• Nick Saban for Coach of the Year
• Jalen Hurts for both Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year
• Jonathan Allen for Defensive Player of the Year
• Cam Robinson for the Jacobs Blocking Trophy.

The other two awards go to Auburn kicker Daniel Carlson as Special Teams Player of the Year and Arkansas linebacker Brooks Ellis as Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The SEC coaches voted for the award recipients and were not permitted to vote for their own players.

This marks the second year in a row the Alabama Crimson Tide has both the offensive and defensive players of the year. The Tide won its third straight SEC championship Saturday with a 54-16 victory over the Florida Gators.

Saban led Alabama to its 26th SEC title and the top seed in the College Football Playoff. Now in his 10th season in Tuscaloosa, Saban has guided Alabama to double-digit total victories for the ninth consecutive year. The Crimson Tide enters the CFP with the longest winning streak in the nation at 25 games. Saban was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson and American Football Coaches Association coach of the year awards.

Hurts has thrown for 2,563 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, rushed for 841 yards and 12 scores. The Crimson Tide leads the SEC in scoring offense and total offensive yards.

Allen leads the team with 15 quarterback hurries and is tied for the team lead in sacks. The defensive lineman is ranked second on the school’s all-time career sacks list.

Robinson has started all 13 games for the Crimson Tide and has helped pave the way for a rushing attack ranked second in the SEC with 245 yards per game. The Alabama offensive line unit is among three finalists for the Joe Moore Award, given to the top offensive line in college football.

Carlson is the SEC’s leader in scoring and has connected on 26-of-30 field goal attempts this season. He tied an SEC record with six field goals made in Auburn’s 18-13 win over LSU earlier this season, accounting for all of Auburn’s points. Carlson is a finalist for the Lou Groza Award, which honors the nation’s best kicker.

Ellis became the first Arkansas football student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors twice in a career. He carries a 3.82 GPA in pre-professional exercise science and was named a National Scholar-Athlete and one of 12 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy awarded to the player with the best combination of academics, community service, and on-field performance. Ellis has registered a team-best 78 tackles and a team-leading 7 tackles for loss this season.

Alabama also had 11 players named to the All-SEC Football Team this year. In addition to Allen, Hurts and Robinson, the SEC named linebacker Reuben Foster, receiver ArDarius Stewart, defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick and punter J.K. Scott to its All-SEC first-team. Tight end O.J. Howard, receiver Calvin Ridley, linebacker Tim Williams and defensive back Eddie Jackson were named to the second team.

In addition to Carlson, Auburn defensive lineman Carl Lawson and running back Kamryn Pettway were named first team All-SEC. Offensive linemen Braden Smith and Alex Kozan and defensive lineman Montravius Adams were Tigers named to the second team.

Other organizations are also handing out their awards to Tide players, including:

• The Dick Butkus Award for best college linebacker went to Foster.
• The Bronko Nagurski Trophy for the best defensive player in the nation went to Allen.
• The Ted Hendricks Award for the nation’s top defensive end also went to Allen.

The Tide’s Allen, Foster, Howard, Fitzpatrick and center Bradley Bozeman along with Auburn’s Carlson were also named to the Pro Football Focus All-America Team.

The Sporting News also named the Tide’s Allen, Foster and Robinson to its first team All-American Team while Fitzpatrick and Auburn’s Carlson received second-team honors.
