Among the shops and eateries in the Mobile Bay area town of Fairhope is a restaurant that is decidedly Mediterranean.

Sage Lebanese Cuisine is a flavorful oasis among the seafood and Southern cuisine outfits that already make Fairhope a foodie favorite. Co-owners and co-chefs Nader and Maritza El-Salibi bring their love for Lebanese food to their new home in Baldwin County.

The Meza Mixer appetizer givers diners a sampling of hummus, labneh, moussaka, grape leaves and falafel with pita bread. The Kebab Supreme entrée is as impressive as the name sounds, combining a variety of meats and vegetables.

Both dishes are on the Alabama Tourism Department’s list of 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die.

Sage is why more and more diners are discovering the flavors of the Mediterranean when they visit the eastern shore of Mobile Bay.
