Alabama Power has notified the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of a rare flower employees found in the woods of Fayette County.

The white fringeless orchid is federally protected, and was recently discovered in the right-of-way of a company transmission line outside of Fayette. Several dozen blooms have been identified, and further examination has turned up a couple of other locations where the orchid blooms.
