Alabama foreclosure rate drops again in November

Foreclosures in the U.S. have been decreasing since the 2011 peak of 3.6 percent, and Alabama stands as one of 30 states during the month of November that had a foreclosure rate lower than the national average.

The national foreclosure rate is 1.2 percent, according to the latest national foreclosure report from CoreLogic.

As of November, the latest numbers on record, CoreLogic said Alabama had a foreclosure rate of 0.7 percent.

This is a 7.7 percent drop off from a year ago, the report said.

During November there were 8,822 reported foreclosures in the state, compared to 14,197 in Tennessee and 24,020 in Georgia.

On a national scale, the foreclosure rate dropped 21.8 percent, year-over-year, with 483,335 completed foreclosures, compared to over 500,000 the year prior. The serious delinquency rate dropped 21.7 percent year-over-year.

Five states currently account for the majority of foreclosures within the United States from November 2014-’15, including Florida (83,000), Michigan (51,000), Texas (29,000), California (24,000) and Georgia (24,000).

The five states with the lowest foreclosure inventory percentage are Alaska (0.3 percent), Minnesota (0.3 percent), Arizona (0.4 percent), Colorado (0.4 percent) and Utah (0.4 percent).
