The Dam Ride draws close to 30 cyclists in Alabama to support MS Society

Nearly 30 cyclists pedaled more than 100 miles for a good cause in the inaugural The Dam Ride this past weekend.
A group left from the Alabama Power headquarters in downtown Birmingham on May 6 to the Lay Dam where they spent the night in the dam house. After some fun on the lake and an Italian dinner, the cyclists were back on their bikes Saturday morning. Some cyclists chose to make a 35-mile loop to Mitchell Dam at Lake Mitchell while others opted to make the 75-mile journey back to Birmingham. A few did both.

The ride was a partnership between the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Alabama Power “Power Pedalers” team. The cyclists are preparing for the Alabama-Mississippi Chapter’s three Bike MS events later this year.
The National MS Society provided support and gear vehicles along the routes, as well as all meals for The Dam Ride.
