Experience unforgettable Sloss Music and Arts Festival in Birmingham July 16-17
Get stoked for the Sloss Music and Arts Festival this weekend, a premier music experience with great headliners and popular artists. Hours are from 12:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and can beat the heat with misting areas and hydration stations, as well as garden hoses at three stages.

Go back in time at Horseshoe Bend Park’s new Creek Indian canoe exhibit July 16
Get a glimpse of Alabama history at the unveiling of Horseshoe Bend Park’s newest exhibit – a handmade, dug-out Creek Indian canoe – Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Hewn from a massive poplar and largely hand-built by Alabama Creeks, the canoe mirrors those made by early Indians, significant to the Battle of Horseshoe Bend and to early traders. The canoe will be dedicated at the Horseshoe Bend Park Visitor Center.

Take your pick of enjoyable nights out at the Montgomery Biscuits games July 14-18. Thirsty Thursday returns with an homage to “Seinfeld”; the Force awakens on Saturday for Star Wars Night with a MAX fireworks show; and Sunday offers Bark in the Park and Kids Day at the Biscuits’ Riverwalk Stadium.

Enjoy Southside City Fest in Southside July 16
Southside City Fest offers something for the entire family: live music, amusement rides, more than 50 arts-and-crafts booths and good food. Shoppers and swappers come from near and far to Tannehill Trade Days at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park in search of tools, clothing, jewelry, furniture and other treasures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. More than 350 vendors will show their wares.
Watch the Blue Marlin Grand Championship at Orange Beach July 14-17
Catch the “big one” – that is, see one of the state’s biggest fishing tournaments, the Blue Marlin Grand Championship in beautiful Orange Beach. Each day offers excitement:
- On Thursday at 5 p.m., enjoy the boat parade and “Thursdays on Main” street party with live music. The sponsor village opens in Marlin Circle with the Billfish Outboard Boat Show.
- Don’t miss the “Weigh-in Spectacular” on Friday at 7 p.m.
- Weigh-ins proceed on Saturday at 5 p.m. Tournament champions will be announced at 10 p.m.
- On Sunday, country music star Dierks Bentley caps off the week with a 7 p.m. performance at the Wharf Amphitheater.
