Live from the Forum: Birmingham Mountain Radio to broadcast from the BJCC

The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex is home to a multitude of concerts and plays, but the venue is always looking for ways to shake things up.
Through a redesign and some partnering, the BJCC will now take on a new air as it takes to the airwaves with Birmingham Mountain Radio.
BJCC has joined with Birmingham Mountain Radio with plans to host live shows each month in the newly renovated Forum Theatre.
The first live talk show will be July 30 with Will and Reed Lochamy from “Oh Brother Radio.” The brothers have been working together in television and radio for nearly eight years with appearances on the SEC Network and ESPN.
Each show will be two hours filled with trivia questions that will require audience participation. Trivia may range from pop culture to geography or may even be sports related. Some participants will be called up to the stage at random or listeners from the radio can call in to answer. In short, the live component gives the show an even greater element of unpredictability.
“We are really excited about hosting an event in the new Forum Theatre. … It’s perfect,” Will Lochamy said.
There will also be guest appearances at each show. The first show will include singer Jackson Capps, along with other surprise guests. Capps made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry when he was 12 and makes music inspired by the likes of Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings.
Tickets can be purchased online now. Each show will air on Birmingham’s 107.3 FM, Tuscaloosa’s 97.5 FM, and around the world on iTunes.
Proceeds from each show will benefit different local charities. The first show will support Camp Smile-A-Mile, which helps pediatric oncology patients, survivors and their families.
BJCC’s Forum Theatre was once the home of a lecture hall for business but has now been transformed into a first-class performance venue with 275 seats and a bar on the side to welcome audiences.
“We are thrilled to have a partnership with Birmingham Mountain Radio that will not only bring this unique and interactive trivia and live music show to Forum Theater, we hope it will result in more collaboration with Birmingham Mountain Radio going forward,” said Tad Snider, executive director of the BJCC.
