Salute a military hero at Birmingham’s Veterans Day Parade
Pay homage to America’s service men and women at the 69th National Veterans Day Parade in downtown Birmingham. The nation’s oldest and largest parade starts on 18th Street North and 8th Avenue North Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
The world–famous Budweiser Clydesdales are the highlight of this year’s parade. The Clydesdales will be in Birmingham Nov. 9-14. For more information about how to see the horses at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex, click here.

Enjoy an evening of patriotic music
The Alabama Symphony Orchestra Red Diamond SuperPOPS presents Red, White and Swing at Samford University’s Wright Center Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. Take a step back in time to celebrate service members with big-band era favorites and music from the Andrews Sisters of the swing and boogie-woogie eras.

Bay Minette honors veterans with a breakfast, parade and dedication ceremony
Kick off Veteran’s Day with free breakfast at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center Nov. 11 at 8 a.m. After the breakfast, you will not want to miss the Veterans Day Parade on the Courtyard Square at 10:15 a.m. A ceremony will honor the brave men and women who have protected our country.

Zoological facilities celebrate Veterans Day Appreciation Week
The Montgomery Zoo and the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum will honor veterans, military personnel and their immediate families through Nov. 12. Anyone with a valid military identification card can receive a 50 percent discount on regular admission tickets.

Mobile’s USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park will host armed forces
The sixth Navy battleship named after the state of Alabama will host several patriotic events on Veterans Day:
The traditional flag-raising ceremony is at 6 a.m. Friday.
