Top off the summer weekend with a classic movie and grab-and-go meals in Can’t Miss Alabama

Catch your favorite flicks at the Alabama Theatre summer film series.

Alabama Theatre

The beloved summer film series returns this weekend to the Alabama Theatre with a “Grease Sing-Along” Friday, July 9 at 7 p.m. Grab the family and head to one of Birmingham’s most iconic theaters to enjoy classic favorites like “The Princess Bride,” “Singin’ in the Rain” and “The Wizard of Oz.” Friday films begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday showings are at 2 p.m. The complete lineup is here. Tickets for all movies are $10 each, and children ages 2 and younger are admitted free. Doors open one hour before showtime, and each screening will begin with a sing-along with the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. Capacity is limited to 50% and guests will be responsible for socially distancing. The series will run through Sunday, Aug. 1.

See what’s blooming at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens this month. Moundville Saturday in the Park

A series of demonstrations and presentations related to Native American culture, archaeology, natural history and sustainable gardening is underway at Moundville Archaeological Park through Saturday, Aug. 7. This week, Saturday in the Park focuses on dancing and drumming. Many of the topics relate to the recently renovated exhibits in the Jones Archaeological Museum or the archaeology, flora and fauna of the park. The programs take place in front of the museum or inside. Moundville Archaeological Park is at 634 Mound State Parkway.
