Miles College not only is preparing students for the future, but is eyeing what’s next for its own growth and evolution.
The four-year private school is recognized among the 107 historically Black colleges and universities. Miles College President Bobbie Knight said the vision for the future includes reaching total enrollment of 2,000, adding a master’s program, achieving university status and expanding the campus.
The college owns the site that is home to the former Lloyd Noland Hospital.
“I’d love to develop that 44 acres up there and do some things that are fabulous not just for Miles College, but for the community,” Knight said. “So, my interest is in public-private partnerships that can serve the greater good, not just the institution.”
Knight talks about those plans, a new ambassador program with FedEx, new football coach Sam Shade and more in this interview.
