On Feb. 24, Alabama Power Southeast Division Community Relations Manager David Norwood was in the square of downtown Headland with his family to accept the city’s Man of the Year award.

“Our man of the year, David Norwood, is filled with energy and enthusiasm for the Headland community,” said Adrienne Wilkins, executive director of the Headland Chamber of Commerce. “I think he serves on every board of directors that exists in our community. He serves with a happy heart and usually has his boys in tow, setting an example for the next generation of what a dedicated community member should look like.”

This award is presented to someone in the community who goes above and beyond in volunteerism, support and other areas of excellence that make Headland a better place to live and work. It is part of the chamber’s annual Gemmy Awards.

Wilkins added, “David’s creativity and innovative ideas have helped move Headland forward. He is a shining example of a community leader, and he sets the bar for all of us as we serve Headland.”

Norwood has worked for Alabama Power in various positions for nearly 22 years.

“David is a valuable member of our team and plays a significant role in promoting the values of Alabama Power and serving our region at the highest level,” said Chere Johnson, Southeast Division area manager. “As a company, we are committed to doing everything we can to make communities brighter. David is truly an example of that commitment.”
