Uptown Entertainment District is getting two new tenants. Your Pie and Eugene’s Hot Chicken will be joining the lineup of restaurants at the Uptown district at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in 2016.
Your Pie, a quick-serve, brick-oven, customized pizza concept, will move into space now occupied by Bottle & Bone. After a year of operating at Uptown, Bottle & Bone owners determined the concept did not require 3,000 square feet of retail space and rather than pursue subdividing the space, worked with BJCC management on the plan to bring a new tenant to the space.

Also coming to Uptown is Eugene’s Hot Chicken, which executed a lease with the BJCC on July 11 to occupy 1,100 square feet at the corner of 23rd Street and Ninth Avenue on the south end of Uptown District. The popular food truck concept selected the former Café Forum space for its first brick and mortar restaurant to be a part of the Uptown momentum.
“We’re thrilled to add two new eateries at Uptown and broaden the choices and price points that are available,” said Tad Snider, executive director of the BJCC. “The fast-casual concept of Your Pie, we feel, is a nice complement to the choices currently available, and Eugene’s Hot Chicken has had so much success on wheels that it’s ready to expand into a sit-down restaurant. We are thrilled to be able to help them make that transition.”
Your Pie franchise owner Lloyd Peeples, who also owns the restaurant in Homewood’s Soho development, plans to renovate the Bottle & Bone space and add a patio. Construction will take several months. The restaurant is expected to open in November.
“I am very excited to bring the Your Pie concept to Uptown and believe that it is a good complement to the existing restaurants in the area,” Peeples said. “Bringing high-quality fast-casual pizza to that area fills a need in that market.”
Your Pie opened its first restaurant in Athens, Georgia, in 2008. The company started expanding in the Southeast in 2010 and the rest of the nation in 2016. Your Pie has 28 locations in nine states throughout the country and should have 50 units by the end of 2016 from North Carolina to Arizona.
